I just spoke to the second owner of my Carfax Certified one owner car.
Other than the AC not working(it was supposed to be fixed, but was too cold to test it), the journey revealed no real surprises. Surprising to me, is that it’s a really great road trip car, barring the collapsed seat.
Other than the driver’s seat being crushed, all is well. Even with that, it’s far more comfortable than I imagined it would be. Currently breaking a curse, as the only car that didn’t make a Sheetz run was the GTI.
But I really miss being able to pass people. It only died twice this week, and maybe managed to hit 87.
I remembered that I have blue Tigers to match the FiST, green Tigers to match the GTI, and now... Tastelessness.
The AC needed fixed, which the dealer is doing. But deposit made. Flying up to NJ on Saturday and road tripping back that day.
And now I wait.
The old brute is back on daily duty until further notice.
Other than some health issues and some hyperactivity issues, she’s been fantastic! Now that the health issues are taken care of, she is a 70lb dog with limitless energy. Which is fun...
Got my offer to rid myself of the VW, and am going to take it. Now to find the replacement, as the one I lined up to look at tomorrow sold. I found a back up, that’s an incredibly good deal, but it is black. I really want yellow or blue. I’ve got 1.5 weeks to find one...
Overdue oil change, done. New not $50 battery, done. Rats nest of aftermarket wiring under dash, ....
Hadn’t seen that posted here, but it gets a turbo direct injected 1.3, with 177hp/200tq. The 2.4 is now standard, with the manual and 1.4 being dropped.
For the second time in the past 2 years, the speedometer decided to work.
Also, anybody have the free autocheck link that works? I found a car that seems quite perfect, and if VW would speed things up, I would like to move on if it checks out...
It looks as though the end is nigh for the Golf after all, and I want something different. Lower mileage C5's can be had for relatively cheap, and at least for non-Z06's, tires are cheap.
